For larger dimensions, the toll road can be utilized with a state permit and an additional $50 special permit charge. Weight charges are addressed in the state permit. Loads exceeding 10 feet in width are restricted to daylight hours only. However, 12 feet wide loads are permitted to run on weekends, except on certain holidays. The toll charge is determined by the number of axles and miles. For a legal weight load, less than 12 feet wide, traveling the toll road from Gate 21 at Portage to the Ohio line, the cost is approximately $30.00.
