OPERATING TIME:

Loads not exceeding 12′ in width, 13’6″ in height, or 100′ in length have 24/7 operation, except between 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Sundays and between 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM from the fourth Sunday in May to Labor Day. Dimensions greater than these may not operate during darkness, from Noon on Saturdays until sunrise on Mondays, and not between 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM from the fourth Sunday in May to Labor Day. Overweight-only travel is permitted 24/7, including weekends and holidays, unless otherwise specified on the permit.

SEASONAL LOAD (WEIGHT) RESTRICTIONS OF WISCONSIN OVERSIZE PERMITS:

Typically, spring thaw overweight restrictions are imposed on “Class 2 Roads” from early March to mid-May. Interstates and US Highways usually remain unrestricted, with the exact start date varying annually.

MISCELLANEOUS:

SIGNS, FLAGS & LIGHTS FOR WISCONSIN OVERSIZE PERMITS:

Oversize Load” signs are obligatory when the vehicle/load exceeds 10′ in width or is overlength, and they must be illuminated for nighttime travel. Flags (18″ square) are required at the front and rear corners of overwidth loads, and at the widest point of any load that exceeds the vehicle’s width by more than 4 inches. When overlength, a single flag is necessary at the extreme rear if the overlength or projecting portion is 2′ wide or less, and two flags if over 2′ wide.
